I am so incredibly stoked to share these images with you and my hair story and to talk about the amazing people at Hairstory Studio.
First of all, I attribute a lot of my style and personality to my haircut in 2012. Before that, I didn’t know who I was or who I wanted to be or pretty much anything. I was always looking for something that fit. I came out in 2010 and that was the first step. But then cutting my hair in 2012 is what REALLY helped me. The first year of being short was pretty awful in hind site. I was still trying to figure out how to style it, I was on the road and never got the same haircut, and was traveling a lot and no one really cares that much about how they look when they travel all the time. Or, maybe thats just me.
THAT BEING SAID, I have always always always wanted to have a different color hair. Or at least TRY it. I have never had anything but brown hair and I was ready to change it. So when Hairstory asked if they could bleach me I answered a resounding “YES YES YES!!”
The process was quite easy. The studio and everyone inside was incredibly awesome. Very hospitable and paid so much attention to detail. I never wanted for anything, was never uncomfortable (in any aspect- cold, hot, itchy water dripping down my face, etc), and walked away with killer hair and amazing photos. FIRST STEP: BLONDE. Roxie and her awesome assistants bleached me and as I sat there I could see my hair lightening. It was literally the most exciting thing ever. After they rinsed out the first round of bleach I already felt amazing. They took me into Wes’s room where he gave me a killer cut. I mentioned how I am usually a little bit masculine and a little bit feminine in my appearance. I am never too much of either, unless I have to be. I had never had a short haircut like this and I felt great!
I DIDN'T EVEN TALK ABOUT THEIR PRODUCTS. Seriously guys. Their New Wash is what we would call "Shampoo" but it is so much more than that. It is natural and soothing and gets rid of the use of "Conditioner." It left my hair feeling like I had used a hair mask. No chemicals, truly nothing I've ever seen before in a hair wash. Try it. Now. They used a few of their styling products on me during the shoot and I loved them. I loved the way it felt, smelled, looked. Check it out!
Since going blonde, I have felt very striking. I feel like I stand out and that my features look even stronger. I love it. I do think I will grow out my brown hair again, but I know I will definitely try blonde again! I may even go back to a medium or long cut, but because of my decision to go short, finding my style, and having an awesome experience going bleach blonde and living as one, I have found myself and my style even more, and feel confident that no matter what hair I have, I will now forever be myself.
